Our First Blog Post - What are we doing here?

Aaah, our first blog post! It’s been long overdue as I’ve always enjoyed writing but have never really taken the time do something about it. Barring some newsletter type writing I’ve done way back at my previous job and a string of e-mails aptly named “Die verlore poedel”, following an old mate’s time in London, I haven’t spent as much time with a pen in hand as I would’ve liked. Therefore, starting this blog is a step in the right direction! As with anything in life, if you don’t do it often you lose your touch. (Use that as an excuse the next time your wife has a headache) The purpose of the blog is also to try and regain what I have definitely lost... in terms of writing skills. J

Some say that a message is nothing without an audience. That does make sense, I have to admit, but finding an audience is the least of our worries. With the exception of some family members, and possibly a friend here and there, our audience will mostly be ourselves. That does sound dumb, I know, but we’re going to need something to read when we’re stuck in an old age home years from now. Not having to spend money on books means a bigger booze budget. There’s not much else to do when you reach that age, but that’s a debate for another day.

The blog is pertinently named “All things DnA” as to not limit ourselves to what we can write about. 2011 is looking like a big year with a number of sporting events like the new Super 15, Cricket World Cup and Rugby World Cup. We’ve also have a couple of trips planned throughout the year, like the Argus MTB trip to Bettys Bay in March, which will make for some interesting writing! Documenting the ins and outs of all the different Mountain Biking events that we participate in will also bring back some cool memories down the line.

So that’s it! Our first blog post. If you are one of the unlucky ones that happened to stumble upon our blog; Welcome! Grab a chair, a glass of your favourite wine and join us as we indulge in documenting life.

Hou by die Blou,
Dawie & Adel - DnA
