MTB Paradise - Bicycling Magazine - Letter of the month - November 2011 issue
After my second day of riding the trails at the Virginia Farm during our recent holiday to KZN, I felt so inspired that I decided to write a letter to Bicycling Magazine. I didn’t hope for much, but getting something published, even if it is just a short letter, would still be awesome. About 2 months later I received an e-mail from Bicycling Magazine notifying me that I had won the letter of the month competition! Man, I was stoked! Something I had written had been published in a magazine!
Here is the write up I sent in and in the picture is the actual letter as it was published in the magazine:
I had the most awesome ride this morning on a sugar cane farm in KZN. After the ride I couldn't help but wonder if this was the best riding I've ever done. I live in Pretoria and the riding I did this morning was something completely new. Even though I'm still undecided as to the best trail I've ever ridden I have realised one important thing; we are truly privileged to live in the MTB heaven that is South Africa. We've been blessed with beautiful bushveld rides up north, superb sugar cane singletrack fun in KZN, the breathtaking wide open space of the Karoo and the heart pumping vineyard climbs of the Cape. Four equally awesome rides but four riding experiences that are worlds apart. Think twice next time before you complain about this little piece of MTB heaven at the southern tip of Africa.
In the mag!
